In 2005 a tyre and steel business was purchased in the main street of Julia Creek where the electrical business was relocated. This remains current at 41 Burke Street, Julia Creek. The shop was redesigned to create a showroom and offices for the electrical business, the tyre and steel business continued at the rear of the shop. They continued to stock steel on a separate block.
The showroom now stocks a variety of hardware, camping and electrical goods as well as tyres, tubes and accessories, oils and batteries and much more.
The shop was named the Mongrel Shop as it stocked “a little bit of this” and a “little bit of that”. Marwill has expanded its service areas over the years, with our electricians now working around the greater North West.
Marwill is a service provider for both State and Local Government agencies such as Building Asset Services, North West Hospital and Health Services, Queensland Rail, Ergon, McKinlay Shire Council and other neighbouring Councils in the region.
Marwill conducts work for Telstra and its major subcontractors, and many private and commercial owned properties such as Acton Land and Cattle, AA Company and Stanbroke Pastoral Company.
Marwill continues to sub contract to building companies who undertake both large and small projects, having strong relationships with the likes of JCK Contractors, Tim Wilsons Carpentry, Richardson’s Building Services, Gibbons Constructions and Auzscot Civil.
Following the 2019 floods, Marwill was contracted to provided accommodation supplying 120 rooms. Once this contract was complete, Trevor and Janene saw a need to continue with some kind of workers accommodation and set up Tradies Way which consists of 19 rooms all with own ensuite and shared kitchen, laundry and bbq facilities.
