Trevor and Janene Fegan established Marwill Pty Ltd in 1996 as electrical contractors servicing the Julia Creek area. The business started in the back shed of Trevor and Janene’s residence at 62 Coyne Street, Julia Creek.
In 2005 Trevor and Janene purchased a tyre and steel business in the main street of Julia Creek. They redesigned the shop and made a showroom and offices in the front part of the building and moved the tyres to the back. They continued to stock steel on a separate block.
The showroom now stocks a variety of hardware and electrical goods as well as tyres, tubes and accessories, oils and batteries and much more.
Today the electrical business continues to operate in Julia Creek as well as having electrical contractors based in Cloncurry, servicing many surrounding districts including properties as far west as the Northern Territory.
The steel yard is still operational, as is the tyre business and the Mongrel Shop. The shop being true to its name is a ‘bits and pieces’ shop.
At present Marwill employs electrical tradesmen and apprentices, a tyre fitter, clerical and sales staff totalling 7 full time staff and a few casual staff.
